You all know my love of smoothies. My favorite smoothie has been a berry smoothie for so long. I rarely venture outside of that recipe. But when I was on the 21 Day Sugar Detox I had to give up berries. I don’t usually eat bananas, but decided to give them a try for a while and have done 1/2 banana a few times a week. Surprisingly I do very well on them and found a new favorite smoothie. You can use any kind of nut or seed butter in this smoothie, just choose your favorite. My favorites are peanut butter or sunbutter. This smoothie tastes a little bit like dessert too because of the banana and peanut butter. Plus, there’s no added sweeteners to this smoothie. All natural sweetness.
Most of my lunches are smoothies these days. It’s super easy for me to pack a smoothie full of nutrients and healthy fats and it’s also very easy for my body to digest. I find if I eat meat for lunch I tend to get a stomach ache by the end of the day (too much to digest I guess). But if I have a smoothie for lunch my hunger is satisfied and my body feels great! 1/2-1 green tipped banana
1/3 can coconut milk
1/2 cup cold filtered water or almond milk
2 Tablespoons coconut oil
2-3 tablespoons nut or seed butter (almond, peanut, cashew, sunbutter)
1 scoop grass-fed whey protein powder (optional, I use whey for a meal and without for a snack) or 2 free-range eggs
2 teaspoons grass-fed gelatin (optional)
Ice, as needed (I use 4-5 ice cubes)
- Making a smoothie is more of an art versus an exact recipe. I tried my best to give the most specific measurements for this smoothie. But depending on your taste level and the power of your blender, you may need to adjust a few of the measurements
- Add all ingredients to the blender except the ice
- Blend on medium for 10 seconds and then slowly add ice and blend on high speed until fully blended and creamy. It will take about 60 seconds
- Eat immediately (plus, you can’t wait to eat it either)
